Overview
The ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ Port Arthur Refinery is located on the Texas Gulf Coast approximately 90 miles east of Houston. The refinery receives crude oil by rail, marine docks and pipelines. Products are distributed into pipelines and across the refinery docks into ships and barges.
Adjacent to the ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ Port Arthur Refinery is one of its two renewable diesel plants, which has made ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ the world’s second largest producer of renewable diesel and a leading sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) producer.
The ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ Port Arthur Refinery also supports Southeast Texas communities through charitable giving, employee volunteering and partnerships that benefit local children and families.

- Processes heavy sour crude oil and other feedstocks into gasoline, diesel and jet fuel
- Large-scale renewable diesel production. In addition, the SAF project at the renewable diesel plant in Port Arthur was successfully completed in the fourth quarter of 2024 and is now fully operational.
Supporting Children and Families
- $9.9 million in grants for children’s organizations through the ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ Texas Open and Benefit for Children since 2013.
- ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ and its employees gave more than $2.4 million to the United Way of Mid and South Jefferson County for 2025.
ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ Port Arthur Refinery Volunteers in Action
- ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ Volunteers are active in supporting the Port Arthur Community by working alongside organizations such as Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Meals on Wheels, Texas Family Care Network, Adaptive Sports for Kids and South East Texas Food Bank.
- Over the last 10 years, ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ Volunteers have dedicated more than 100,000 hours of service in Port Arthur.
Investing in Education and Community Partnerships
- Since 2000, ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ has partnered with Port Arthur Industry Group (PAIG) to provide college scholarships to Port Arthur residents interested in STEM-related careers.
- Since 2018, employees at ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ’s Port Arthur Refinery have hosted the Reel United fishing tournament as a way to raise additional funds for the United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County.

Environmentally Responsible Operations
Since ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ’s acquisition of the refinery in 2005, more than $3 billion has been invested in significant environmental projects such as a flare gas recovery system, as well as unit additions, including a new hydrocracker, which removes sulfur and adds hydrogen to produce lower carbon fuels and feedstocks.
In 2013, our Port Arthur Refinery became the first industrial site in the U.S. to successfully host a large-scale carbon capture project. And it remains the only U.S. refinery doing so, with more than 1 million tons captured each year from third-party hydrogen plants that produce hydrogen from natural gas.

The waters and marshlands of Sabine Lake and Sea Rim State Park provide the setting for dozens of outdoor activities, including fishing, sailing, birdwatching, kayaking, and wind-surfing.
